Webmaster comment:  There is a good set of plans on the site: http://www.ooowoo.com.  On the left side of the screen is a "How do I..." link.  The first question: "How do I build my own sled?" will take you to the plans and some easy to follow instructions for building a basic sled.  I don't know the person/people who run the site but the information I've seen presented there has always been quite good.

Webmaster follow-up:  (2/26/2006)  The site recommended above has been greatly changed and the directions will no longer take you to the sled building instructions.  I did find them on the site at http://www.ooowoo.com/JUNIOR/doityourself/k12sled.html.
